Fed: Toomey to tell Anderson Ansett is resolving its problems

Ansett chief executive GARY TOOMEY plans to tell federal Transport Minister JOHN ANDERSON
that Ansett is close to resolving its problems.

Ansett's 10 Boeing 767s have been grounded since last Thursday after missed maintenance
checks and the airline facing a three week deadline to keep its license.

Mr TOOMEY says he wants to update Mr ANDERSON and bring to his attention that the airline
has been working to resolve problems Air New Zealand found when it took over the organisation.

Mr TOOMEY will then meet Civil Aviation Safety Authority chief MICK TOLLER.

He says Ansett is developing a strategic plan for upgrading its fleet to go to the board in July.

Mr TOOMEY says Ansett wants to speed up the disposal of its 767-200 fleet, not because
of questions of airworthiness but because of perception.
