Schools want early kindergarten count; Scotia-Glenville starts registration early to improve planning and budgeting.(Capital Region)

SCOTIA - Parents of preschoolers are probably still writing "2005" on their checks, but it's already time for them to start thinking about kindergarten in September.

The Scotia-Glenville Central School District is holding kindergarten registration from Jan. 23-27, nearly four months earlier than it normally does. Officials are sending letters to parents this week to notify them of the change. They said the earlier registration will help the school board better know how many kids they must budget for next year.
