Vic: Police congratulate Victorians on quiet New Year s Eve

MELBOURNE, Jan 1 AAP - Victorians appear to have resolved to be good this New Year, judging
by the few problems, despite large crowds of revellers at the traditional hotspots.
About 150,000 people celebrated in central Melbourne, while tens of thousands more partied
at Phillip Island and the state's seaside resorts.
Despite the large crowds, police said only 516 people were arrested across the state, most
for drunkenness.
